Just like with everything else that surrounds you as you go about your everyday life, technology has changed the way that custom t-shirts can be produced. In the past, a person only had one choice when designing custom t-shirts and that was to have them silk-screened.
What has changed is that digital printing technology that used to be solely confined to printing paper has now been adapted to print on cloth as well.
So, now instead of the time and expense that is required to prepare and set up to silkscreen, an image is simply loaded into a printer’s memory and a button is pushed to complete the task of printing a shirt. You can easily shop t-shirts with cool sayings.
Benefits of Digital Printing
So, is it all just that easy and are there any downsides to digitally printing custom t-shirts? While digital t-shirt printing does offer some benefits, it also does have some inherent limitations as well.
For instance, because there is no setup labor and expense, there will usually be no minimum fee when orders are being filled. In fact, some print businesses will even do as few as one shirt for you if you want.
Digital Versus Silk Screen
What this means, is that it will be cheaper to have large orders silkscreened rather than have them digitally printed. Then there are a few other things to consider as well.
